The Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos ( German: Stadium of the Mediterranean Games ) is a located in the Spanish city of Almería football and athletics stadium. It is currently the club UD Almería as homestead.

History

The Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos was founded in 2004, built with 20,000 seats at that time as competition venue for the Mediterranean Games in 2005. Here is the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the football and track and field competitions were held. The stadium is now used primarily for the Spanish football club UD Almería as homestead.

On 9 February 2005, the Spanish national football team played at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos their World Cup qualifying game against San Marino. The match ends 5-0 for the hosts, first scorer was Joaquín.

Facts and Figures

The Mediterráneo stadium holds 15,050 spectators regularly, but can on special occasions (eg Mediterranean Games ) quickly expanded to 20,000.
