The Estadio Libertadores de América ( German stadium the liberator of America ), known as " La Doble Visera ", the " double sight ", is a football stadium in Avellaneda, an industrial suburb of Buenos Aires. It can accommodate 50 655 spectators and is the club CA Independiente as homestead.

History

The Estadio Libertadores de América Hotel was built in the years 1926-1928 and opened on 4 March in the year 1928. For the first game in the new stadium, the future users, CA Independiente Avellaneda, and the Uruguayan top club Penarol Montevideo met for a friendly match which eventually ended 2-2. Since that day bears CA Independiente in this stadium of its home games. The club was until today 15 times Argentine champion. In addition, Independiente has seven tracks record title holder of the Copa Libertadores. Due to the many victories in this competition, the club also played often at the World Cup, but you could only win twice despite six appearances. In November 2006, the old Estadio Libertadores de América was closed to begin construction of a more modern arena. The construction of the new arena went from 2007 to 2009. The new Estadio Libertadores de América has after all construction work had a capacity of 50 655 seats, while the old Stadium Course offered for 57,000 spectators and making it the third largest stadium in Argentina.
