The Nuevo Estadio Municipal José Zorrilla is located in the Spanish city of Valladolid football stadium. It serves the club Real Valladolid as homestead.

History

The new Estadio Municipal José Zorrilla was built at that time with 33,000 seats as competition venue for the FIFA World Cup 1982 1982. It replaced the already 40 year old Estadio José Zorrilla, with a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The first game took place on February 20, 1982 held between Real Valladolid and Athletic Bilbao, the goal in a 1-0 victory for the home side scored Jorge Alonso. In April 1982, also the final of the Spanish Cup between Real Madrid and Sporting Gijon took place. In 1985, the North Stand was built and the stadium thus closed. 1995, all standing room were converted into seats, which is why the capacity of 33,000, reduced to its current 26,512. Finally, in 1997 the decision was made, the first Spanish football stadium to equip the A Tribune with radiant heaters.

The Jose Zorrilla stadium has 120 executive boxes. In addition, 1,629 parking spaces are available. The stadium was named after a native of Valladolid, José Zorrilla y poet and playwright morality.
