Esteban Félix Granero Molina ( born July 2, 1987 in Madrid), also known as " El Pirata " ( Spanish for "The Pirate" ), is a Spanish footballer. Granero plays usually on the position of the central or attacking midfielder, and occasionally on the right wing.

Career

Already at age eight began Esteban Granero to play in Real Madrid's youth. He went through all age categories of the club and was on 27 November 2005 at age 18 against Albacete Balompié its debut at the at that time in the Segunda División playing second team of the club, Real Madrid Castilla.

For the 2007 /08 season Granero on loan to Getafe for whom he wrote his first play in the Primera denied on September 16, 2007 compared Espanyol Liga. With his team he reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup and the final of the Copa del Rey this year. In summer 2008, Granero was transferred to Getafe, but Real Madrid maintained a repurchase option that was pulled after one year. Granero signed with the " Royal " a contract until 2013.

At Real Madrid Granero was in the 2009/10 season with 31 league inserts a regular player in the defensive midfield. In the season 2010/11 he lost this regular place as a result of the commitment of Sami Khedira, but came to a further 17 league and 32 games duty. In the 2011/12 season Granero was at times only a reserve player and behind Xabi Alonso, Khedira and Lass, only the fourth force in the defensive midfield. However, in the course of the season, he won back the trust of coach José Mourinho and graduated after four brief appearances in the first round another 13 games in the second round. At the end of the season he was with the club Spanish masters.

For the 2012/13 season Granero moved to Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League. He signed a five-year contract.

After the descent with QPR Granero moved to a league game in the Football League Championship in mid August 2013 on loan back in the Primera División to Real Sociedad.

National

Esteban Granero played with the Spain U-17 European Championships in 2004, where his team only lost in the final of France. Two years later he won with his National Team U-19 European Championship in 2006. During the World Youth Championship 2007, he was again part of the squad, the Spaniard failed in this tournament in the quarter-finals on penalties to the Czech Republic. His most recent appearance in a finals tournament was the U-21 European Championship in 2009, when excreting Iberians in the preliminary round.

Trivia

Esteban Granero studied psychology at the University Camilo José Cela. He is an admirer of Asian culture and the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. In addition, he runs his own football academy named " Los Piratas de Granero ' ( dt: Graneros pirate ).
