2007–08 UEFA Cup
The UEFA Cup 2007/ 08 was the 37th edition of the European Cup competition and was won by Zenit St Petersburg against Glasgow Rangers in the final on 14 May 2008 at City of Manchester Stadium 2-0.
Mode
157 teams of UEFA's 53 member associations participated from the qualifying stage of the competition; the first time, teams of autonomous association of Montenegro. Entitled to participate were all the clubs who had occupied one of the matters governed by the UEFA five year ranking UEFA Cup places in the past to end the season.
To keep the travel costs for the clubs low, all the teams were divided into three groups: Northern Europe, Central Europe and Southern Europe. To compensate for the odd number of participants in the groups that were in the 2007/ 08 San Marino and Belarus counted to Northern Europe.
In Torgleichstand after return game initially decided the number of away goals scored, then an extension was reached no decision on this after two periods of 15 minutes was followed by a penalty shoot-out, until the winner was determined.
As in the previous year, eleven clubs qualified via the UEFA Intertoto Cup for the second qualifying round. In Sixteenth-finals then met as yet had the eight third group of the Champions League group stage for the participants.
Last year's winner FC Sevilla who could defend his title from 2006 as the second team ever, did not take part in the UEFA Cup, as the club had qualified for the Champions League. Through the free space but no new participants marched into the competition, but moved after the UEFA club ranking a club from the second qualifying round in the first main round, as well as two teams from the first qualifying round to the second. In the first qualifying round thus accounted for a game.
First qualifying round
At the first qualifying round was attended by 74 teams. The first legs took place on 2 August 2007 on 19 July, the return games.
1 Following riots by supporters of Belgrade in the first leg on 19 July Partizan was expelled by UEFA from the current competition. Partizan appealed, so the return match was played under reserve. On 7 August 2007, the UEFA upheld the judgment at first instance.
Second qualifying round
The Blackburn Rovers, Hammarby IF, Aalborg BK, Tobol Qostanai, Hamburger SV, RC Lens, SK Rapid Wien, União Leiria, Sampdoria, Atlético Madrid and Oţelul Galaţi qualified via the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2007 for the 2nd qualifying round. With the 37 winning teams from the first qualifying round, the following meetings were.
The first legs took place on 30 August 2007 on 16 August, the return games.

First round

Round of
In the Round of the eight group winners were drawn against the eight third-placed, with a renewed clash between two teams of the same group was prevented. The eight group runners were randomly assigned to eight group Third from the UEFA Champions League 2007 /08. These were Olympique Marseille, Rosenborg, Werder Bremen, Glasgow Rangers, Sporting Lisbon, Benfica, PSV Eindhoven and Slavia Prague. In this round, teams clashed not a country. From the second round such restrictions no longer apply.
The first legs took place on 13-14. February, the second legs take place on 21 February 2008.
Second round
The first legs took place on March 6, the return matches on 12-13. March 2008 instead.
Quarterfinals
The first legs took place on April 3, the return legs on April 10, 2008.
Semifinal
The first legs took place on May 1, 2008 April 24, the return games.
