2006–07 UEFA Cup
The UEFA Cup 2006/07 was the 36th edition of the competition and was won by Sevilla FC by a success in the penalty shootout against Espanyol in the first all-Spanish final at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Sevilla was able to defend his title from last year and was by Real Madrid in 1985 and 1986, the second club to have managed.
Mode
Entitled to participate were all the clubs who had occupied one of the matters governed by the UEFA five year ranking UEFA Cup places in the past to end the season. In Torgleichstand initially decided the number of away goals scored, then an extension has been reached no decision on this after two periods of 15 minutes was followed by a penalty shoot-out, until the winner was determined. New from this season was that eleven instead of three clubs on the UEFA Intertoto Cup for the second qualifying round instead of previously qualified for the first round. Second qualifying round
Kayserispor, AJ Auxerre, NK Maribor, Ethnikos Achnas, the Grasshopper Club Zurich, Olympique Marseille, the SV Ried, Hertha BSC, Odense BK, Newcastle United and FC Twente Enschede qualified via the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2006 for the first round.
The first legs took place on 24 August 2006 on 10 August, the return games.
