1987–88 UEFA Cup

The UEFA Cup 1987/88 was the 17th edition of the competition and was won by Bayer 04 Leverkusen against Espanyol after coached by Erich Ribbeck team had the final first leg lost with 0:3 and the decision in the return match on penalties fell.

Other participants from the Federal Republic of Germany was Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen. From the GDR played Dynamo Dresden and the BSG bismuth floodplain. The Switzerland posted the Grasshopper Club Zurich and FC Sion in the competition, Austria was represented by the LASK Linz, FC Admira / Wacker and Austria Wien.

A total of six rounds were played in home and away matches. In Torgleichstand an extension decided the number of away goals scored, then finally only the penalty shootout.
