2005–06 UEFA Cup

The UEFA Cup 2005/ 06 was the 35th edition of the competition in which 96 teams from 51 state associations took part. The Sevilla FC won the final against Middlesbrough FC at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven 4-0 and was first UEFA Cup winners.

Mode

Entitled to participate were all the clubs who had occupied one of the matters governed by the UEFA five year ranking UEFA Cup places in the past to end the season. In Torgleichstand initially decided the number of away goals scored, then an extension has been reached no decision on this after two periods of 15 minutes was followed by a penalty shoot-out, until the winner was determined. Like last year, qualified again three clubs on the UEFA Intertoto Cup for the first round. In Sixteenth-finals then met nor the eight third group of the Champions League group stage for the participants.

First qualifying round

Second qualifying round

The first legs took place on 25 August 2005 on 11 August, the return games.

First round

Hamburger SV, Olympique Marseille and RC Lens qualified via the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2005 for the first round.

The first legs took place on September 15, the return legs on 29 September 2005.

The Club Brugge, FC Thun, Udinese Calcio, Lille OSC, FC Schalke 04 Rosenborg Trondheim, Betis and FC Artmedia Bratislava qualified third party as a group the group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2005 /06 for the round of.

The first legs took place on 15-16. February, the second legs take place on 23 February 2006.

Second round

The first legs took place on March 9, the return matches on 15-16. March 2006 instead.
