2003–04 UEFA Cup

The UEFA Cup 2003/ 04 was the 33rd edition of the competition and was won by FC Valencia against Olympique Marseille 2-0. The finale took place in Gothenburg Ullevi Stadium.

Mode

Entitled to participate were all the clubs who had occupied one of the matters governed by the UEFA five year ranking UEFA Cup places in the past to end the season. Like last year, qualified again three clubs on the UEFA Intertoto Cup for the first round. The competition was held in seven rounds in return games ( except finals). In Torgleichstand initially decided the number of away goals scored, then an extension has been reached no decision on this after two periods of 15 minutes was followed by a penalty shoot-out, until the winner was determined. For the third round also met the eight from the group stage of the Champions League as third-placed clubs for retired participants.

Qualifying round

The first legs took place on 28 August 2003 on 14 August, the return games.

First round

FC Schalke 04, FC Villarreal and AC Perugia qualified via the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2003 for the first round.

The first legs took place on 15 October 2003 on September 24, the return games.

2nd round

The first legs took place on November 6, the return legs on 27 November 2003.

Round 3

Celtic, Inter Milan, PSV Eindhoven, Galatasaray, Panathinaikos Athens, Olympique Marseille, Besiktas Istanbul and FC Bruges qualified third party as a group the group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2003 /04 for the 3rd round.

The first legs took place on 26 February, the return legs on March 3, 2004.

Second round

The first legs took place on 25 March 2004 on 11 March, the return games.

Quarterfinals

The first legs took place on April 8, the return legs on April 14, 2004.

Semifinal

The first legs took place on 6 May 2004 on 22 April, the return games.
