Eternal Gray

Eternal Gray is a technical death metal band from Tel Aviv, Israel, which was founded in 2001.

History

Creation and kindless (2001-2003)

The band was formed in 2001 by Eyal Glottman ( electric guitar, vocals), Dory Bar-Or ( electric guitar, electric bass, keyboards) and Eran Asias (drums, percussion) and describes himself as "Dark - Death Metal Band ".

In 2002, the band flew to Sweden to record their debut album. The album was recorded at Abyss Studios with producer Tommy Tägtgren. As a guest vocalist Peter Tägtgren ( Hypocrisy, Bloodbath ) and Marcel Schirmer ( Destruction ) were heard.

The album called kindless was published on Raven Music and Listenable Records in August 2002. The release of the album was followed by several appearances in Israel. In addition, they also played as the opening band for bands like Destruction, Megadeth, Dismember, Behemoth and Rotting Christ. In 2003, bassist joined Gil Ben- Ya'akov ( Breorn ) the band in order to support Dory Bar-Or, so this is only needed to devote to playing keyboards and electric guitar.

Line-up changes, Deeds of Hate, Numb and pause (2004-2007)

In 2004, the band re-entered the studio to work on their next album Your Gods, My Enemies to start. Shortly thereafter, however, singer, guitarist and founding member Eyal Glottman left the band and took sämtliches, previously written material with them. Not long after, short time later, drummer Eran Asias left the band and was replaced by Roy Chen ( Breorn ) to finish the recordings.

In 2005, the recordings for the EP Deeds of Hate were completed. It was planned to publish these in a limited edition of 1,000 copies, but the band decided at the last moment against the publication. Towards the end of 2005, the list of the band changed again. Singer Oren Balbus ( Matricide ) guitarist Auria Sapir and drummer Dror Goldstein ( Abed ) joined the band. With this lineup, the band recorded a cover version of the song Blinded by Fear ( At the Gates of the Oirignal ) for an at-the - Gates - tribute album. After a few more changes in the lineup, they recorded the EP Numb, which so far has also remained unpublished. It was later announced that Deeds of Hate and Numb contained the same Liedsr, the band but was not satisfied with the recording quality of the first EP.

The band played in 2006, their last appearance to date, to then go to a break. Guitarist and founding member Dory Bar-Or moved to Germany in order to concentrate on his further career. Meanwhile, he wrote new material and always returned to Israel to rehearse earned his material with the other members. The end of 2007, this process was completed and the band decided with the recordings of the new material to begin with.

Your Gods, My Enemies (since 2007)

In March 2007, the band flew to Sweden to record their second album Your Gods, My Enemies take. The recordings took place in Studio Underground with producer Pelle Seather.

In May 2009, the album was mastered by Göran Finnberg, who had previously worked with bands such as Opeth or Soilwork. The band then announced that there would be some performances to publish it album and that would be the official title of the album Your Gods, My Enemies.

On 7 January 2010, the band had their first gig again for 3 years. The band also played a few songs from the new, at that time still unreleased album.

On 31 December 2010 the album Your Gods, My Enemies was released as a limited edition version on a USB stick. Then the nine new songs on the album, as well as bonus material such as demos, lyrics and photo galleries were included. The band also announced a release of the album on CD worldwide in 2011. The publication is intended to be followed by a tour of Europe.

17 May 2011 it was announced that the band had signed a contract with the French extreme metal label Season of Mist to release the album Your Gods, My Enemies at the label in the fall of 2011.

On July 20, 2011 announced Season of Mist, that the album would be released on October 14, 2011 in Europe and on 18 October in North America on CD.

On 26 August 2011, the band together with other Israeli groups like Phantom Pain and Spawn of Evil appeared to support the band Vader in their only appearance in Israel.

Style

Especially characteristic is the technically demanding style of play of the tape. The pieces vary in speed from medium to fast pace, being especially characteristic is the use of blast beats. Eternal Gray is compared with the band Decapitated.
