Eugen Sutermeister

Franz Eugen Suter Champion ( born November 16, 1862 in Küsnacht, † June 8, 1931 in Bern, homeland justified in Zofingen ) was a Swiss engraver, first Bernese preacher for the Deaf, carer and poet.

Biography

With four years Suter champion lost his hearing due to meningitis. From obedience to his father, Otto Suter master he entered a engraver doctrine.

Appeared in 1896 Suter master first publication: Songs of a deaf-mute ( a title that actually is a contradiction if one understands vocals). Suter champion proved in his proven poetic language competence, which had to impress, especially hearing.

1905 let Sutermeister short sermons for the Deaf print, and in 1907 he founded the Swiss Deaf newspaper. In 1911 he founded the Swiss deaf club; Since 1911 he was General Secretary of the Swiss welfare association for the deaf.

Suter was also champion of national church Reformed deaf preacher, staff at magazines like Swiss family friend, new family friend, For The Home, etc. In 1912 he was appointed a member of the French Academy.
