Eugène Goossens, fils

Eugène Goossens ( born January 28, 1867 in Bordeaux, † December 31, 1958 in London) was a French conductor and violinist of Belgian origin.

Goossens was son of the Belgian conductor Eugène Goossens. He studied at the Brussels Conservatory in E. Cornelis violin and François -Auguste Gevaert composition, then 1891-1892 at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He played under the guidance of his father in the orchestra of the then known in England opera company, Carl Rosa Company and solved this in 1899 as principal conductor from. Goossens remained until 1915 successful conductor of the Company. He was inducted in 1926 as a member of the " British National Opera Company ."

Eugène Goossens was the father of the composer and conductor Sir Eugene Aynsley Goossens (1893-1962), the harpist Marie Goossens (1894-1991) and Sidonie Goossens (1899-2004), the horn player Adolph Goossens (1896-1916) and the oboist Léon Goossens ( 1897-1988 ).
