Eugène Marin Labiche

Eugène Marin Labiche ( born May 6, 1815 to Paris, † January 22, 1888 in Paris ) was a French playwright.

Life

Labiche was the son of a wealthy industrialist and attended the Collège Royale de Bourbon. He then traveled to Italy, from where he wrote chats in some Parisian leaves, which he later under the title: La clef des champs issued collected and brought in 1837 his first play, La cuvette d' eau and 1838 the Posse Monsieur de Coislin with large success of the performance.

With effect from November 1880 Labiche ( fauteuil 15) was added in place of Silvestre de Sacy Ustazade to the Académie française.

He wrote four decades the Parisian stages, mainly the genre theaters, a rich treasure of comedies, farces, vaudeville and more, some of which have remained exemplary for the genus. In them is almost always a rich caustic, people informed and never hurtful humor, rare -witted dialogue and stage equipment safe hands.
