Europabanan

Europabanan ( " Europe Train " ) is a nationwide rail concept between Stockholm, Gothenburg and Hamburg.

The project is a non-profit association, which consists of municipalities, cities, counties and other regional government representatives from Sweden, Denmark and Germany supported. In addition, the Swedish members are joint owners of the corporation corridors Europe AB.

Objective

The aim of the association is to expand the " Europe Corridor ' - in analogy to the European roads - to work, ie for a modern, effective, environmentally sound and sustainable transport system for Sweden, which also conducts Sweden and Scandinavia closer to Western Europe, by the Swedish high-speed network is connected to the Central Europe.

Planning

Europe corridors AB is planning the construction of two railway lines substantially. On the one hand and on the other hand the European railway Götaland. The Götaland Line to run from Stockholm to Gothenburg via Jönköping. The European railway to run from Stockholm via Copenhagen, the islands of Falster and Lolland and Lübeck to Hamburg. The Swedish Transport Agency has estimated the cost of 105 billion SEK for Götalandsbanan, on the route Gothenburg - Jönköping - Södertälje to the trains with 320 km / h speed can go. No costs were calculated yet for the European railway Jönköping -Helsingborg - Helsingør - Copenhagen with the tunnel between Helsingborg and Helsingør.
