The European Route 34 (abbreviated E 34 ) is a 489 km long European road that runs from west to east through Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Beginning of the road is in the west of Belgium to countries North Sea coast in Knokke -Heist. The road ends in Bad Oeynhausen ( Germany ). In Bad Oeynhausen the E34 European Route 30 is connected, one of the main east-west connections in Europe.

Course

Until the 1990s, the section between Antwerp and Knokke -Heist was ( N49 ) There are no highway and drive very unattractive by the many lights and the 90 km / h speed limit. Currently, the route is expanded about half as motorway ( A11). However, the remaining part of the N49 should be strengthened to the highway.

From Antwerp, the E34 runs together with the Antwerp ring road (R1 ) to the Cross Antwerp -east. From there it runs about 4 km together with the A13 until junction Ranst, from where it then runs together with the A21 to the Dutch border. In the Netherlands, it then leads past Eindhoven and Venlo as A67.

In Germany, it then goes from the border crossing Straelen to Kaiserberg (Duisburg, A40 ), from where it extends further, together with the A3 to the intersection Oberhausen. From Oberhausen the E34 then runs together with the A2 to Bad Oeynhausen.

Cities

The E34 starts in the Belgian village of West Chapel near the port city of Knokke -Heist. From there it passes through the town and past Maldegem Zelzate up to Antwerp. From there it runs on past the small town of Ranst up to Eindhoven. Then it goes on past the Dutch city of Venlo until the middle of the Ruhr area in Duisburg. Passing Oberhausen and Dortmund ends the E34 in East Westphalia Bad Oeynhausen.
