European Sports Media

The European Sports Media ( ESM briefly, before European Sports Magazines) is an association of ( originally ) European sports magazines, with a focus on football. The members each choose a European team of the month and the year. Likewise, the Golden Boot, the trophy for the winner of the European top scorer award. The ESM draw also responsible for the computer table, a ranking of European football clubs.

History

The founding members of this association were:

  • A Bola (Portugal )
  • Don Balon (Spain )
  • Kicker sports magazine ( Germany )
  • La Gazzetta dello Sport (Italy )
  • Onze Mondial (France)
  • Sport ( Switzerland )
  • Sports Magazine ( Belgium)
  • Voetbal International ( Netherlands)
  • World Soccer (England)

France Football 1997 Onze Mondial replaced as a French member, but left the federation again before the 2001/ 02 season. Sports from Switzerland was shut down due to financial problems in 1999. Sport-Express from Russia has been created at the beginning of 2002, Fanatik from Turkey came in early 2003 when, TIPS bladet from Denmark followed middle of the same year. After that, among other things, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung was added as another German -speaking member, so make up the ESM in 2011 from the following publications:

In 2004 Afrique Football ( France) became an associate member.
