Evgeny Drattsev

Yevgeny Jurjewitsch Dratzew (in Russian Евгений Юрьевич Дратцев; born January 24, 1983 in Yaroslavl, Soviet Union ) is a Russian long-distance swimmers, who specializes in open water competitions.

In the open water world championships in Naples in 2006 he won his first medal over 10 km in 2:10:40 hours behind the winner Thomas Lurz and the Italian Valerio Cleri.

With the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne in 2007 he won the silver medal over 5 km in 56:50,7 behind Lurz and before the Greeks Spyros Gianniotis as well as the bronze medal over 10 km behind his compatriot Vladimir Djattschin and Lurz.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he was over 10 km fifth in 1:52:08,9. Winner here was the Dutchman Maarten van der Weijden in 1:51:51,6.

In the open water world championships in 2010 in the Canadian Roberval, he was both over 5 km ( 57:44,1 ) and over 10 km ( 2:01:00,6 ) Second. Winners were here each Lurz and Cleri.

In the European Swimming Championships 2010 in Budapest, he was third over 10 km ( 1:54:26.6 ) behind his long-time rival Lurz and Cleri.

In the swimming world championships in Shanghai in 2011, he finished in 56:18,5 over 5 km to third place behind Lurz and Gianniotis.
