Evgeny Kovalev

Yevgeny Alexandrovich Kovalev (Russian: Евгений Александрович Ковалёв, English Evgeny Kovalev, born March 6, 1989 in Moscow, USSR ) is a Russian rail and road racing cyclist.

Yevgeny Kovalev won at the 2005 European Youth Olympic Games in Lignano the gold medal in the individual time trial. The following year he finished second in the individual pursuit at the Junior World Track Cycling European Championships in Athens. In the 2007 season, he won the European Championship bronze in the team pursuit and silver in the team sprint. In Aguascalientes he became world champion in Madison and Vice World Champion in the One, and in the team pursuit. In the U23 class, he won silver in 2008 at the European Championships in Pruszków.

His older brother Ivan Kovalev is also cyclists. At times, they start in the team pursuit in the same team.
