Evgeny Varlamov (ice hockey)

Yevgeny Viktorovich Varlamov (Russian: Евгений Викторович Варламов; born December 7, 1976 in Tallinn, Estonian SSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is since May 2011 with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Yevgeni Varlamov began his career as a hockey player with Krylia Sovetov Moscow, for which he was active in the Russian Super League from 1995 to 1998. He then moved to the league rivals Ak Bars Kazan, with whom he was runner-up respectively in 2000 and 2002. After five years in Kazan defender received a contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk, with whom he again was runner-up in 2004 and won the 2005 Spengler Cup. In addition, Varlamov was in season 2006/ 07 for the first time in his career, Champion of Russia with his team, after which he qualified with Metallurg for the IIHF European Champions Cup, which he also won with Magnitogorsk. In the 2008 /09 season he moved with his team to the Finals of the newly formed Champions Hockey League, where he lost to the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A with his team.

Since May 2011 Varlamov stands for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod under contract.
