Exorcist II - The Heretic is the first sequel to the horror film The Exorcist. The film was directed by John Boorman 1977.
Action
The plot of the movie begins four years after the events of the first film. Father Lamont is to investigate and clarify how it came about that Regan MacNeil was possessed by the demon Pazuzu the death of Father Merrin. Lamont travels to Africa and encounters Kokumo, who was also like Regan possessed by Pazuzu. The Father discovers that the demon wanders in the form of locusts in the world. Regan is again attacked by the demon, Father Merrin Lamont appears in a vision and asks him to look after Regan. Lamont travels to Regan to Washington and they manage to defeat Pazuzu together.
Criticism
The lexicon of the International film ruled that the " pretty pictures and colors " could not hide "weak screenplay ." The film offers " nothing new on the subject ."
Awards
The film was nominated in the Best Special Effects category for the Saturn Award. Linda Blair was nominated as Best Actress for the genre horror, Richard Burton for Best Actor.
Background
The film could not build on the success of its predecessor and took the world a 30.7 million dollars at the box office.
