Stallone had the song Poor Man's Son is one and was looking for a song with a similar vibe. The band agreed to write him a song and was soon Eye of the tiger free. The song had a tremendous impact on the U.S. Billboard charts, reached on July 24, 1982 # 1 and stayed there for six weeks at the top position and 25 weeks in the singles charts. It also topped the British charts. The song spent six weeks in the Top 40 and was Australia's number 1 for four weeks. In the Federal Republic the title entered the Top 20, the song won a Grammy, was voted " Best New Song " at the People's Choice Awards selected and received an Academy Award nomination. This smash hit and the other top 20 hit American Heart Beat ( # 17 U.S. ) was the album Eye of the Tiger # 2 in the U.S. album charts.
