The population density is 289 inhabitants per km ².

Faja de Cima is one kilometer northeast of the city limits of Ponta Delgada on the road EN4 -1A after Fenais da Luz on the northern side of the island. Immediately adjacent to the southeast is the sister community Faja de Baixo. Other neighboring Freguesias are São Pedro in the east, Ponta Delgada in the south, Arrifes in the West, São Vicente Ferreira in the northwest and Fenais da Luz in the north.

The main source of income is agriculture.
