Fancy (singer)

Fancy (* July 7, 1946 in Munich; actually Manfred Alois Segieth ) is a German musician, singer and record producer ( The latter usually under the name Tess ). In the 1980s he had international success with several disco hits.

Career

Fancy's parents moved to the Second World War to Lengenfeld, where he spent his first years of life. After primary school, where he graduated in Munich, he came to the boarding of a Capuchin monastery. At the age of twelve he began playing guitar. Since it was not allowed in the boarding school to hear secular music, Fancy had to listen secretly the plates by Ted Herold and Peter Kraus. At 14, he came to the humanistic Gymnasium in Munich. At this time he decided against a later monastic life and focused on the music. During his time in high school and afterwards he worked in various bands with; as a guitarist, bassist, but mainly as a singer. Without problems did not run his first steps in the music business, however. His parents could not share Fancy's enthusiasm for music. With various bands he toured the dance halls. His father changed his attitude until he recovered after a serious operation.

By Frank Farian Fancy worked for a long time before he became successful as a producer, arranger and composer. Under the stage name Tess dough he also sang German Schlager. By the way he dealt with more facilities and decorations for premises or discos and proved his talent as an artist impersonator for the revue LA GRANDE REVIEW - Sandy, Mandy & Tess. He was a quick-change artist and enthusiastic as a magician. Fancy was also always on the lookout for new talent, which he produced under Tess Productions. In 1984 he succeeded to the Single Slice Me Nice commercial breakthrough. This was followed by more songs, such as Chinese Eyes, Get lost tonight and LADY O., who also all the hits were. With these songs, he also coined his own style of music. The Beat Machine has become his trademark. Also, the fact that he appeared always heavily made up, made him unique. His biggest hits alongside Chinese Eyes in Germany he had, among other things 1986 Lady of Ice and 1988 with Flames of Love. Towards the end of the 1980s, sales of his records were always lower, the last chart quotation came in 1989 in Germany with No Tears.

On 18 February 2000 Fancy participated in the Countdown Grand Prix 2000, the German preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest with the song We Can Move a Mountain in part and finished 5th. One of his accompanying singers was Gloria Gray.

Fancy produced for the label ZYX Records in the 1980s, numerous titles under the name Tess, including he remixed 1985 West End Girls by the Pet Shop Boys and produced Grant Miller Paul Mc Douglas and The Hurricanes. In the 1990s he produced a number of pieces for Siegfried and Roy. On the album Dreams and Illusions with the music from the Las Vegas show, for which Michael Jackson contributed a song, Fancy sang under the stage name Sarmoti the title Magic Of Your Mind.

Meanwhile Fancy is also active as an author. His most last studio album Forever Magic was released on December 12, 2008 and in addition to some new tracks and cover versions of mainly new recordings of older songs from the 1990s. Since 1996 Fancy takes care of the rescue Siberian tiger. He is the founder of the German Tiger Foundation. His song Slice me nice was covered by the German rapper Frauenarzt Manny Marc together with DJ and house producer Alexander Marcus, entitled Florida Lady 2008.

As of 13 September 2013 he took part in the reality show Celebrity Big Brother on Sat.1 that he had to leave on 25 September 2013.
