Fanny Blankers-Koen Games

The FBK -Games (full name Fanny blanker - Koen Games) are a major international athletics meeting, which is held annually since 1981 in Hengelo in the Netherlands. Since 2010 it belongs to the World Challenge. Namesake of the event is Fanny blanker - Koen, one of the most successful track and field athletes in history. The venue is the Fanny blanker - Koen Stadium. In Hengelo several athletics world records have been set, led by Haile Gebrselassie.

Name of the event

On July 6, founded in 1981 as Fanny blanker - Koen Games to life, the event was named in memory of the former Dutch athlete and IAAF President Adriaan Paulen 1987-2000 Adriaan Paulen Memorial. On the occasion of the election of Fanny blanker - Koen for track and field athlete of the century by the IAAF in 2001 they returned to the original name. From 2003 to 2007, the official name of the THALES FBK -Games meetings after the main sponsor, the French Thales Group. Since 2008, after the end of the sponsorship agreement, the event bears the name FBK -Games.
