Fanny Janauschek
Fanny Janauschek, actually Franziska Magdalene Romance Janauschek, ( born July 20, 1829 in Prague, † November 29, 1904 in Brooklyn, New York ) was an Austrian actress.
Life
Janauschek came from a humble background; her father was a tailor and her mother a laundress. As a child she became a member of the corps de ballet at the Prague National Theatre. In addition, she received private acting lessons from Karl Baudius. With its help, she was able to shine in 1844 in small supporting roles. During this time, she changed officially from ballet to theater. On July 17, 1845 then successfully as " Karoline von Biber stone " debut at the State Theatre.
From Prague Janauschek moved to Leipzig, but asked the prospect commitment was not realized. So they took to help out in winter 1845/46 more bad than good in small provincial theaters make a living. In the spring of 1846, she played for some time in Annaberg and was committed from there to the shares Theater ( Heilbronn). For some time she became a member of the Ringelmann 's theater company in Heilbronn.
In Heilbronn she made the acquaintance of Justinus Kerner; he tried to help as best, but in these politically turbulent times ( Revolution) it was almost impossible to find a permanent job at the theater. In September 1848 Janauschek played for a few weeks at the Cologne City Theatre, where she learned Roderich Bendix know. Convinced by her knowledge, he gave it to the Comödienhaus to Frankfurt. There she was then seen as "Marianne" in February 1848
Janauschek became known. Due to their involvement in a gala performance (21 May 1848) in honor of Ludwig Uhland, who was a Member of Parliament in the Free City of Frankfurt She became famous with her but "Iphigenie ", with which she was able to shine on the occasion of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Goethe on 28 May 1849.
From 1849 to 1860 she was firmly committed to the Frankfurt Schauspielhaus. Her dismissal in 1860 for reasons of economy caused a complete scandal. Several times she was the model Stadtpersonifikation Frankofurtia. The Frankfurt Vereinstaler of 1857 should have shown her picture. They called him Janauschektaler. After a few brief guest appearances at various theaters they came in November 1861 at the Dresden Court Theatre under contract. She stayed there for only one year. In the winter of 1862/63, she gained some colleagues around and broke in 1863 to a great tour to and through the United States on.
There was her first official appearance ( Medea ) on October 9, 1863 held at the Academy of Music in New York. This was followed by a five-year tour to all the big stages of North and South America. 1873 returned Janauschek with her group returned to Germany. After a few gigs you brought it back to the U.S.. Because - now the English language - their best roles now played in this language, she could almost outdo the success of their first tour yet.
In risky financial speculation she lost her entire fortune. Even a short but important stint in 1876 in London could not help her there. Already sickly, she returned to New York and suffered a stroke a short time later. With 75 years of Janauschek died on November 29, 1904 at St. Mary's Hospital ( Brooklyn ), and there I found their final resting place.
