Faranah Region

Faranah is a region of Guinea. It lies in the center of the country, bordering Mali to the north and Sierra Leone in the south. Its capital is the same Faranah. The region has about 648,000 inhabitants and consists of the prefectures Dabola Dinguiraye Faranah and Kissidougou. These are each named after their capital.

The Faranah region lies mostly in the geographic region of Upper Guinea; only the Kissidougou Prefecture in the south is counted to Forest Guinea.
