Farid Zaland

Farid Zaland (Persian فرید زلاند; pashtu ځلاند; born August 1955 in Kabul ) is a composer, singer and musician from Afghanistan. He comes from a family of artists. His sister Soheila Zaland and Shala Zaland and his brother Wahid Zaland are also musicians and have some hits sung.

Life

Farid Zaland is the eldest son of Ustad Jalil Zaland. Ustad is a co-founder of the famous orchestra of the National Radio Television Afghanistan RTA, whose musicians emigrated in the 80s either abroad or were unable to continue their careers for various political reasons.

Farid Zaland traveled in 1969 in Iran, to study at the Tehran Conservatory of Music. There, he performed with famous singers of the language Farsi in contact. He composed several pieces of music for some of these singers like Dariush, Googoosh, Ebi, Setar, Moein and Haeda. Some of these songs have become big hits in the whole of Central Asia, especially in Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
