FC Chur 97

The club currently plays in the 1st League Classic, the fourth division of Switzerland.

History

Churchill 97 was formed in 1997 from a merger of three clubs FC Chur, Neustadt FC and SC Grischuna. The team played in their first season in the second league match of the fifth class, and rose immediately from the 3rd league. Only a year later, the direct promotion back to the second league. Two climbs in consequence of the club from 2001 first played in the first league. There they managed for three consecutive years in the league, before the club again in the second inter-regional league were relegated after the 2004/ 05 season. A year later, it went back up a step and the re- promotion to the 1st League was celebrated, which again was a disappointment and the case in the Viertklassigkeit. Then it was 2008 /09 in the first league, before a year later again the case in the second interregional League had to be commenced.

The club managed several times to jump to the main round of the Swiss Cup. So it was in 2003/ 04 in the first round of the FC St. Gallen over, the they lost 0-2. 2009/10 lost Chur in the first round against FC Töss, this time 0-3. In the 2011/12 season the team defeated the then Axpo Super League representatives Neuchâtel Xamax Bulat Tschagajew with the President, despite the guide hit by Roman Demarmels 1-2.

The one previous club FC Chur played from the 1987 - 1993 in the second highest league, the former National League B.

In the 2012/13 season the club achieved promotion to the 1st League Classic.
