FC Inter Turku

FC Inter Turku is a Finnish football club based in the coastal city of Turku. The club was Finnish champion in 2008 and 2009 Cup Winners' Cup. History

The club was founded in 1990. During the first two years, he was only active in the youth field. 1996 for the first time succeeded in rising to the top division, the First Division, from which one though as the 10th and last relegation again in the following year. Since the 1999 season, the club is continuously top notch. After a 4th place in 2004, he qualified for the UEFA Intertoto Cup 2005. The year 2008 was the hitherto most successful club history. The first major trophy won Inter with the Finnish League Cup with a 1-0 final victory over local rivals Turun Palloseura. On 26 October 2008, first winning the Finnish championship, the club made ​​perfect by a 2-0 win on the final day against FF Jaro.

In qualifying for the UEFA Champions League 2009/10 the team failed by two 0-1 defeats against Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova. In the league, the defending champion in the 2009 season only reached number 5, but won the Finnish Cup with a 2-1 final win against Tampere United and thus plays in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League 2010/11.
