FC Lokomotiv Nizhny Novgorod

Locomotive Nizhny Novgorod is a former Russian football club from the city of Nizhny Novgorod. The club was one of the founding members of the Premjer League, Russia's first league.

History

The Railwaymen's team was founded in 1916 in Nizhny Novgorod. The team was called Tscherwonka (Russian Червонка; 1918-1922 ), Spartak (Russian Спартак; 1923-1930 ), Tjaga (Russian Тяга; 1931) and Scheleshodoschniki (Russian Железнодорожники; 1932-1935 ). From 1936 to 2002, the club was called the locomotive Gorki (until 1990 ) or locomotive Nizhny Novgorod (since 1990); some with names additives (1992 Locomotive Eretisport (Russian Локомотив - Эрэтиспорт ), 1993 Locomotive Sportsmen (Russian Локомотив - Спортсмен ), 2002 Locomotive GScheD (Russian Локомотив - ГЖД ) ). The name was changed to locomotive -NN (Russian Локомотив - НН ) 2002.

Locomotive was known for its football school and took until 1987 not participate in the Soviet league system. In 1989 the club achieved promotion to the 1st Division, where he was able to keep two years. In 1992 the locomotive was assigned to the newly established Premjer league and reached a sixth place, the best result in their history. In 1997 it rose by only five years, again from the first division. In the same year the locomotive reached the semi-finals of the Intertoto Cup. However, it was the immediate re-emergence followed by two more years in the Premjer League ( 1999 and 2000).

After two downs in a row, the club was reorganized in 2001 and started in the amateur again. In 2002, the promotion to the third-class 2nd Division, in the locomotive remained until the exclusion 2006.
