FC Twente (women)

The women's football department of FC Twente Enschede has existed since 2007. The team plays in the League BeNe. Venue is the De Grolsch Veste.

General

The team plays in completely red home jersey. The away jerseys are held by the neck to pants and shirt in light blue.

History

Since the season 2007/ 08 the club has a women's football team. It was founded on January 21, 2007 by the Board of FC Twente. This shall be entitled to participate in the Eredivisie for women. First coach was Mary Kok Willemsen, the previously trained amateur women's associations and youth teams of other clubs.

On 29 August 2007 the women of the FC Twente opened before the home crowd in the De Grolsch Veste the Women's League. First scorer of the league and for Twente was Marieke van Ottele. With just 75 seconds after kickoff, it was also the fastest goal scored so far the Eredivisie women. The game against SC Heerenveen 2:3 was lost. Thus they remained two behind top scorer Sylvia Smit who joined before the season from Enschede to Heerenveen. From the KNVB Cup you had to retire due to the annual Koninginnedag. This also met all other first division teams. A defense of the title was therefore not possible. 2009/10 started the club with just one win from their first five games poorly in the new season. With Suzanne de Kort from the retracted club Roda JC Kerkrade came a new striker, which should be important in the course of the season. In addition, players were ordered from the youth teams in the Erstligamannschaft where they should come within the course of the season to possibilities.
