FC Vysočina Jihlava

The FC Highlands Jihlava is a Czech football club from about 50,000 inhabitants former mining town of Jihlava. The club name contains, besides the city name and the Highlands Region ( in German: Oberland).

Club history

After the establishment of a sports circle with a football section in the machine-building plant PAL Jihlava the new team in 1948 started in the lowest league of the region, the Second třída. In 1950 the club achieved promotion to the circle class.

At this level, the club remained almost four decades until he was able to celebrate promotion to the Divize (group D), the fourth- highest division 1988/89. After only two years, followed the next ascent, this time in the 3rd League ( MSFL ). 1999/ 00 the team landed on a not actually climb legitimate second place in the MSFL, but still rose because of the waiver of NH Ostrava on in the second league.

In the second league Jihlava could keep always in front and finished at the end of the 2004/05 season the second place, which entitled them to promotion to the Gambrinus Liga. After just one season in the 1st League from the team got back. With the second place in the league Druhá Fotbalová 2011/12, the second Czech league, FC Highlands Jihlava returns to the Gambrinus Liga.

Club name

The FC Highlands Jihlava was founded in 1948 as a sports department in engineering work PAL Jihlava. 1949 was followed by the renaming in ZSJ PAL Jihlava. More name changes, there were 1951 in TSO Spartak Motorpal Jihlava, 1953 in DSO Spartak Jihlava, 1961 in TJ Spartak Jihlava, 1993 FK Spartak Jihlava, 1994 FC Spartak PSJ Jihlava, 1995 after a merger with the city rivals SK Jihlava in FK Spartak PSJ Motorpal Jihlava, Jihlava and PSJ 1997 FC 2000 FC Highlands Jihlava.
