Fédérale 1

Fédérale 1 (short for Championnat de France de première division fédérale ) is the third- highest division of the men in the French Rugby Union, while the highest division in the amateur field. The competition is organized by the French Rugby Federation Fédération Française de Rugby and replaced 2000, the former Major League B2. It take 40 teams participate in four groups. Below the Fédérale 1 still exist, the Fédérale 2 and the Fédérale 3 At the end of the season will feature two teams on the Pro D2, while eight descend in the Fédérale 2.

Format

In four groups, there are ten teams. These meet in each a home and away game. The four best teams from each group qualify for the play-offs, the two worst teams descend.

The best 16 teams in the first round wearing a tournament in the Cup system. In the second round, quarter-final and semifinal there is a back and a leg, in which the better points ratio for the next round is crucial. The final is decided in a match on neutral ground. Both finalists will advance to the second highest league Pro D2, the winner will also receive the Trophée Jean -Prat.
