Felix Roque

Felix E. Roque (* 1955/56, in Las Villas, Cuba) is since May 2011, the mayor of West New York in the State of New Jersey.

Born in Cuba, Felix came Roque in 1967 as an eleven year old with his family in the United States. In 1976, he joined the United States Army and was able to acquire a bachelor's degree in biology and Spanish at the Norwich University through the GI Bill of Rights. He then studied medicine at the Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic. He currently serves as a military doctor with the rank of Colonel and commander of the 4215 Combat Support Hospital in Virginia.

In civilian life Roque first worked in different hospitals, 1998, he opened a private practice in Western New York and is currently director of the St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic. 2009 started Roque, inspired by the high taxes in West New York, a campaign to recall Mayor Silverio Vega, but failed in April 2010 with it. In the local elections on 10 May 2011 won a little unexpected Roques list and Felix Roque shortly afterwards assumed the office of Mayor.

On October 25, 2011 Roque announced that 2013 Grand Prix Formula 1 in West New York is to take place and the neighboring Weehawken.
