The fire point is a 2852 meter high mountain in the Lech Valley Alps, in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Due to its exposed location and light Besteigbarkeit it is a popular vantage point for alpine ski mountaineers and hikers.

Location

The mountain is located about seven kilometers in a straight line south-east of Holzgau in the Lech Valley. At the foot of its northern wall of the Fallbacher addition, which is due to the current glacier melt only a minor glacier rest is up. Adjacent peaks are in the north, separated by the Fallenbacherjoch ( 2753 m), the Holzgauerhaus Weathertop with 2895 meters of altitude, in the east of Fallbacher Tower ( 2704 m) and separated by the Gamskarlscharte ( 2551 m), the 2723 meter high Fallbacher tip. In the south the Vorderseespitze is 2889 meters above sea level, separated by the Stierlahnzugjoch ( 2596 m). To the southwest tip of the fire falls in a large Schuttabdachung to Kaisertal.

Geology

To the north there is a fire tip of a steep but fragile wall of eye-catching red chert layers ( radiolarite ) of the upper and lower Dogger Malm is, who gave his name to the mountain. This rock contains microfossils, such as radiolarian skeletons and sponges, needles and is very brittle. On the climbs through this wall there is an increased risk of rock falls.

Bases and tours

As a base for an ascent of the peak fire on the normal route, the easiest route, the Simmshütte located on 2004 meters above sea level is used at the end of Sulzeltals.
