Filingue is a department in the region Tilabéri in Niger.

Geography

The Department is located in the southwest of the country. It consists of the township Filingue and the rural communities Imanan, Kourfeye Centre and Tondikandia. The eponymous capital of the department is Filingue.

History

After independence Niger in 1960, the territory into 32 districts ( circonscriptions ) was divided. One of them was the district Filingue. 1964 divided an administrative reform in Niger seven departments, the predecessor of the later regions, and 32 arrondissements, the predecessor of the later departments. As part of the district Filingue was converted to the district Filingue. The Prime Minister Mahamadou Danda later ran from 1983 to 1987 as a sub- prefect of the arrondissement. In 1998, the former arrondissements of Niger were raised to departments, each headed by an appointed Council of Ministers is prefect. The structure of the department in communities exists since the year 2002.
