Fingrid

Fingrid Oyj is a Finnish company, which has as a national transmission system operators the local power line network.

As part of the Finnish Electricity Law, which lays down that there is only one operator of the entire transmission system, Fingrid thus has a monopoly in Finland.

In 2007, the total consumption was due to electric current in Finland at 90.3 TWh, of which 68.4 TWh was transferred to its own network.

The company, which is also a member of the Association of European Transmission System Operators ( ETSO ) was founded on 29 November 1996 and adopted on 1 September 1997 to operate on.

To Fingrid include the Finnish electricity network and all connections to neighboring countries such as Fenno -Skan together with the Swedish Svenska Kraftnät, a total of about 14,000 km transmission lines, substations and 106. The company owns 20 percent of the shares of the Nordic power exchange Nord Pool, headquartered in Oslo.

There are other connections to Russia, Estonia and Norway. Expansion of the capacity to Sweden ( Fenno -Skan 2) is to be completed on 30 November 2011.
