Finn Tugwell

Finn Tugwell ( born March 18, 1976 in Aarhus ) is a Danish table tennis player. At the Olympic Games in 2004 he won the bronze medal in doubles. In addition, in 2005 he was European Champion.

International career

From 1993 to 2010 Tugwell took part in twelve world championships. A medal win not succeed in doing. In 2004 he reached at the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals with Michael Maze the double semi-final. Several times he was nominated for the European Championships, namely 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Doing so, he was in 2005 with the Danish team European champion, 2009, the team finished second.

He achieved his greatest success at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, when he won the bronze medal in doubles with Michael Maze.

In the ITTF World Ranking He is currently (June 2011) out on place 169. He held in October 2004, with rank 65 its highest rank.

Activities in Germany

1995 Tugwell left the Danish Club Horning BTK and joined the German club Eintracht empty. In 2000 he moved to Würzburg Hofbräuhaus and helped the men's team to promotion to the 1st Bundesliga. In 2002 he went to DJK Offenburg and in the following year to TTC metabotropic Frickenhausen. In 2004 he left Germany and went to France for SAG Cestas TT. Here he remained for four years and returned in 2008 to Denmark Roskilde back.

National Championships

The Danish National Championships Tugwell won several titles:

  • Single - four titles: 2001, 2004, 2005, 2009
  • Double - eight titles: 1994, 1995, 1997 by Lars Hauth, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011, Allan Bentsen
  • Teams: 1993, 1994, 1995 Horning, 2009, 2010, 2011, Roskilde.

The ranking tournament TOP12 won Tugwell 1995, 2002 and 2004. In April 2011, he finished at the Danish National ranking third.
