Fjordman

Fjordman is the pseudonym of Peder Are Nøstvold Jensen (born 11 June 1975), a Norwegian blogger. Under this assumed name, he wrote from 2003 Islamophobic article in right-wing blogs, where he described the immigration of people of Muslim faith in European countries as a threat to the western world and widespread assumptions about inevitable impending civil war in Europe. He became famous because of the 2011 terrorist attacks committed in Norway by Anders Behring Breivik, who in his pamphlet in 2083: more widely adopted texts of Fjordman A European Declaration of Independence. Jensen distanced himself three days after the attacks of Breivik and his actions.

Life

Education and work

Peder Are Nøstvold Jensen was born in 1975 and grew up in the coastal town of Ålesund in Møre og Romsdal on. He graduated from the University of Oslo from a study at the Center for Technology, Innovation and Culture ( TIK ). In his master thesis he dealt with the issues of censorship and blogging in Iran. Then he studied Arabic at the University of Bergen and at the American University in Cairo. By his own account he experienced as an eyewitness, as parts of the Egyptian people celebrated the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This experience had shocked him and his attitude to Islam changed radically.

His military service completed in Jensen Setermoen in the community Bardu (Northern Norway). Since then, he has claims to have no weapon more. He described himself as " not a good soldier."

Between early 2002 and mid-2003, Jensen worked on behalf of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as TIPH observers in Hebron in the West Bank. He told of having lived for several years in the Middle East. Recently (August 2011) was Jensen employee of a disability center in Oslo.

Activities as a blogger

Jensen's journalistic work began in 2003 with a contribution to the debate on Islam for the tabloid Verdens Gang.
