Flaming Gorge Reservoir

The Flaming Gorge Reservoir is a reservoir in the U.S. states of Wyoming and Utah. The lake was created by damming the Green River through the Flaming Gorge Dam. The construction of the dam were carried out from 1958 to 1964. The dam holds a volume of water of 4.67 km ³ and lies at an altitude of 1,840 meters.

Location

The majority of the reservoir is located in the southwestern part of Wyoming and part of the lake in the northeastern part of Utah in Daggett County. The northern tip of the reservoir is located about 16 km southeast of Green River, 22 km southwest of Rock Springs and 70 km north of Vernal.

At the foot of the dam is a hydroelectric power plant; there is produced with three Francis turbines and generators power with a maximum output of 153 MW.
