Fleshcrawl is a German death metal band.

Band History

Fleshcrawl was founded in spring 1987 by Stefan Hanus and Bastian Herzog under the name Morgöth and 1990 renamed Suffocation. After the first demo Festering Flesh, the band renamed itself due to the first vinyl release of the American band Suffocation in Fleshcrawl to; under this name she published in 1991 Morbid Records, a 7 " EP called Lost in a Grave. A year later, Fleshcrawl to a recording contract with Black Mark Production. There was published in 1992 their debut album Descend into the Absurd, which to the Montezuma Studios Stockholm was recorded. Shortly thereafter, guitarist Gero Schmitt left the band and was replaced by Mike Hanus. 1993, the second album was recorded in Dan Impurity Swanös Unisound Studio.

In 1995, the band played on the Easter bash tour with Deicide, Cathedral, and Brutal Truth. This was followed in 1996 the third album Blood Soul and 1997 Bloodred Massacre; Both albums were recorded at Peter Tägtgren's Abyss Studios. Bloodred Massacre was the first album with new singer Sven Gross, who took the place of Alex Pretzer.

In 1998, Tobias Schick the long vacant post of bassists. After the release of Bloodred Massacre Fleshcrawl Black left Mark Production, embarked on a four-week European tour with Vader and Kataklysm and played some festivals with bands such as Cannibal Corpse and Dark Funeral.

After returning from the tour, signed Fleshcrawl a contract with Metal Blade Records and released in 2000 As Blood Rains from the Sky - We Walk the Path of Endless Fire which was included in the Fredman Studios in Gothenburg. In June 2000, the band returned to tour Europe, this time for 25 performances with Vader and Vital Remains. Single shows and various festivals followed (among other things on the Czech Dynamo Festival and Summer Breeze ).

In January 2001 Fleshcrawl accompanied the British band Bolt Thrower on their comprehensive five shows a short tour through Germany and the Netherlands. In the following months, Fleshcrawl concentrated on the songwriting for her next release Soulskinner. In addition to still playing in June, the Torture successful tour with Six Feet Under and entered in August 2001 on the Party San Open Air. In September 2001 Fleshcrawl produced the album at Studio Underground in Västerås / Sweden; Soulskinner was presented at a four-week tour with Bolt Thrower and Benediction live in January 2002.

After a few single shows in Germany and Europe in the spring and summer of 2002 Fleshcrawl played at Wacken Open Air 2002. This show was also the debut of new guitarist Oliver Grbavac, the founding member Stefan Hanus replaced, which had to leave for personal and private reasons the band. In autumn 2002, played Fleshcrawl among other things on the Westfalen Festival in Dortmund. Another premiere took place in November 2002: Fleshcrawl toured as support of Hypocrisy for the first time in Japan. After their return, the band began writing songs for their next album. In 2003 there was for this reason only a few live performances. In November 2003, the album Made of Flesh was recorded at Studio Underground. After its publication Fleshcrawl went on a European tour with labelmates Six Feet Under and criminal, to promote the album accordingly. The band also played on the big festival stages the ensuing festival season, including at the Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze, and Party San Metal Camp in Tolmin / Slovenia. 2009 played Fleshcrawl on the rather small Destroyed World Festival as a headliner.
