Flirtation Walk is an American love story with musical elements of Frank Borzage from the year 1934. The screenplay is based on a story by Louis F. Edelman and Delmer Daves. The premiere of the film took place on 28 November 1934. In Germany the film has yet been shown neither in the movies on TV.

Action

Richard Palmer Grant Dorcy is a soldier in the U.S. Army. It is called " Canary" and is stationed in Hawaii. With his superior Sergeant Scrapper Thornhill he has often disagreements. Richard has its problems with receiving commands and obey, yet he does not want any officer career track. As a general Fitts on the island arrives, Dick will be tasked with his daughter Kit to go to the reception. The two, inspired by the romantic moonlight, but not go to the reception, but attend a luau feast of the locals. There they are caught by Lieutenant Biddle, who is himself in love with Kit, in an intimate embrace, Richard blames, he could also harm Kits reputation.

Richard decides to leave the Army. The sergeant asks Kit to clean up the matter again. To keep Richard in acknowledgment of the service, she tells him that she does not love him the hug was a spontaneous impulse. Richard now feels goaded with Lieutenant Biddle catch and enrolled, one at Thornhill's relief at the Military Academy at West Point. The other soldiers are attracted to Kit, but Richard remains cold towards her. Background

The production of " First National Pictures " was filmed on location in Hawaii and West Point. The film's title refers to a walkway at West Point, which runs along the Hudson River.

For John Eldredge it was the second role in a feature film. Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler were at this time several times in movie musicals together in front of the camera. In a small supporting role as soldier Paul Fix is seen. Tyrone Power enters his third film as a cadet.

Bobby Connolly, director of the dance company, shot the wedding scene at the largest ever set that was built by Warner Bros.. More than 400 professional dancers occurred in this scene.

The costumes of the film come from the later three -time Oscar winner Orry- Kelly. As assistant director worked Lew Borzage, brother of director Frank Borzage.

Roy Del Ruth in 1950 turned a remake of the film under the title The West Point Story with James Cagney, Virginia Mayo and Doris Day.

Awards

1935, the film received two Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and Best Sound ( Nathan Levinson ).
