The river rises in the Eastern Ore Mountains in the Czech Republic northwest of the village of Nové Mesto (New Town ) and initially runs in a westerly direction. The source is only about a kilometer away from the source of the savages Weißeritz and the Freiberger Mulde.

In the Czech Republic Floeha is jammed in the dam Fleyh ( Údolní nádrž Fláje ). At George Village ( Český Jiřetín ) flowing onto Saxon area, directly behind the border Floeha is jammed again in the dam Rauschenbach. In Hirschberg the Grenzflüsschen Schweinitz opens and the Floeha forms to Saigerhütte Grünthal the border with the Czech Republic.

In its further course to the northwest, the Floeha flows through Olbernhau and Pockau where her biggest tributary, the Black Pockau opens with its famous Schluchtental. After a total of 67 km of the river flows into the city Floeha in the Zschopau. Here she has a water flow of about 11 m³ / s compared to over 10 m³ / s of Zschopau.
