Florea Dumitrache

Florea " Florică " " Mopsul " Dumitrache ( May 22nd, 1948 in Bucharest, † April 26, 2007 ) was a Romanian football player. He was twice Romania's player of the year and completed 357 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A. In addition, he participated in the World Cup 1970 in Mexico part.

Career

Florea Dumitrache began to play football in his hometown at Rapid Bucharest. After a detour via TUG Bucharest he landed in 1964 on the recommendation of his coach Traian Ionescu at Dinamo. There he came in 1965 in the first team and played on May 2, 1966 against Dinamo Piteşti his first game in Divizia A. After he was initially not taken into account, his career took in the 1967/68 season up as he regulars was and was first appointed to the national team. With Dinamo Dumitrache won three championships in the subsequent period, a cup and was top scorer. In the years 1968 and 1969 he was voted Footballer of the Year twice to Romania.

In 1976 left Dumitrache Dinamo after his goal tally had previously greatly reduced over the years, and joined the league rivals Jiul Petrosani. There, he was initially able to build on old strengths, and was in the 1976/77 season second top scorer behind Dudu Georgescu. But even with Jiul his achievements were gradually led to the team narrowly escaped relegation at the end of the 1978/79 season. Dumitrache then decided to move to another Corvinul Hunedoara, which in Divizia B tried a fresh start with Mircea Lucescu. After the rise in 1980, he witnessed Corvinul early 1980s, whose most successful period, but stood out more than the striker, who he once was. In the 1982/83 season he increased the number of its European Cup inserts for the last time on 20 games and his goal for 8th on the last four league games, he served as player-coach. During the first half of the 1983/84 season he returned to Petrosani, but played for the club unterklassigen Minerul StiinTa, where in 1984 he ended his career.

In 2001, his friend and former teammate Cornel Dinu him lodged in the youth coaching staff at Dinamo Bucharest.

National

Dumitrache completed 31 games for the Romanian national team and scored 15 goals. He made his debut on June 5, 1968 against the Netherlands. With the Football World Cup 1970 in Mexico coach Angelo Niculescu put him in all three games and Dumitrache scored two goals. Furthermore denied Dumitrache 10 games for the U23 national team of Romania, where he scored three goals.

Others

Period of his career had Dumitrache struggling with massive alcohol problems that denied him the way to further successes. On 5 April 2007 Dumitrache was admitted due to a cerebral hemorrhage in the Bucharest University Hospital, where cirrhosis was found. An operation on 10 April did not bring the desired success. Two weeks after the operation, he died in hospital.
