Florian Gerster
Florian Gerster ( born May 7, 1949 in Worms) is a German politician (SPD). He was a minister in Rhineland -Palatinate and Chairman of the Board of the Federal Employment Agency.
Life and career
After graduating from high school in 1968 at Rudi -Stephan -Gymnasium in Worms and subsequent military service Gerster studied psychology and business administration at the University of Mannheim. From 2002 to 2004 he was Chairman of the Board of the Federal Employment Agency. Since then he has worked as a management consultant in Frankfurt am Main. He was until autumn 2007 Partner of the consulting staff Ray and Berndtson. Gerster is currently in charge as Director of Policy Fellows for the political and socially oriented policy fellow network of the Institute for the Study of Labor, has worked as a lecturer at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer and since September 2007 president of the newly founded Employers Association New Letter and delivery services ( since 2011 Bundesverband letter services ). Political career
17 years old, joined Gerster 1966 in the SPD. His political career began in 1974 as the city council in Worms. In 1977, he appeared as substitutes by Lucie Kölsch in the Landtag of Rhineland- Palatinate. In 1987 he was elected to the Bundestag, which he resigned his seat in Parliament. From 1991 to 1994 he was Minister for Federal and European Affairs of the State of Rhineland -Palatinate, in October 1994, he joined the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Health. Since the year 2001, he was also responsible for family policy. From 2001 to 2002 he was again a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate Landtag.
Chairman of the Federal Employment Service (BA )
On 27 March 2002, Gerster successor to the dismissed because of a scandal statistics Bernhard Jagoda as head of the Federal Labour Office in Nuremberg, which was renamed the Federal Employment Agency 2004. Known relatives
Gerster is the brother of journalist and author Petra Gerster, which is known today as news anchor of the television broadcast nationwide since 1998. His uncle the second degree Johannes Gerster is president of the German -Israeli Society and was until January 2006 representatives of the Konrad -Adenauer -Stiftung in Israel and among other functions and offices to 1997 state chairman of the CDU in Rhineland- Palatinate.
