Focas (lunar crater)

Foca is a small impact crater on the back side of the Moon, just behind the southwest edge. In this position, the crater is sometimes due to the libration of the Earth visible. Since one here but look at it from the side, barely Details can be identified. The circular isolated lying craters has an inner bottom surface without significant impact structures or tracks, with a diameter of approximately 10 kilometers. Only the symmetric edge shows slight signs of wear.

The crater is located in the valley between the annular Rook Mountains in the north and the mountain range of the Mondkordilleren in the south. These two mountain ranges include a double ring the Mare Orientale impact basin of. Foca is located at the southern end of this massive structure, just north of the Montes Cordillera.

The nearest crater of importance are at some distance east crater visible Wright and Shaler, which lie on the same inner edge of the Cordillera.
