Focke-Wulf Fw 43

The Focke -Wulf A 43 " Falcon " (later also called the Fw 43 ) was a touring aircraft manufacturer in Bremen Focke -Wulf.

History

The Focke -Wulf A 43 arose from an order of 1930 for a quick trip airplane. 1931 began the construction of the prototype, which was completed at the end of May in 1932 and first flew in June. The approval was granted in August 1932, in September, the aircraft was presented to the public. The only built copy (D - 2333 ) was then successfully used in the North German air traffic AG, which was co-founded by Cornelius Edzard a test pilot of Focke -Wulf. The entire construction was based on Edzards experiences and ideas.

Construction

The A43 was a strutted high -wing monoplane of mixed construction with spacious sound-insulated and enclosed cabin. The pilot sat in front and behind him up to two passengers who had a good view down. The high-wing design also allowed easy entry into the machine. To achieve a high speed emphasis was placed on good aerodynamics. When driving an eight-cylinder V-engine Argus As 10 came with 162 kW (220 hp) is used, which could bring the aircraft to a top speed of 256 km / h. Problematic and ultimately one of the reasons why the machine should remain a single piece, was the very high landing speed of 108 km / h the missing flaps. Added to this was the relatively high wing loading of 82 kg / m², which was almost double the comparable constructions that time.
