Fontaine-Henry

Fontaine- Henry is a commune with 481 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Calvados in the Basse -Normandie; it belongs to the district of Caen and the Canton Creully. The place has taken the name of his lord Henry de Tilly, who died in 1305 in the place name in the 14th century.

Attractions

The Castle of Fontaine- Henry goes back to a medieval castle from the 11th century, but was rebuilt several times. Today, it appears mainly in the Renaissance style. Typical is the steep slate roof.

It is still in private ownership, but can be visited. The rooms are furnished and contain various paintings and other items that were collected from the different generations of the same family.
