For Today (band)

For Today is a Christian metalcore band from Sioux City, Iowa. They have a contract with the Californian label Facedown Records. Since the band was founded in 2005, For Today have released four albums.

The band's name is based on the philosophy of the whole world to preach the Christian faith and that in the here and now.

The band is mostly known for her constant and energetic live performances. Most of her pieces include a lot of breakdowns. Their lyrics are characterized by the undisguised message of the Christian faith.

Band History

After its founding in 2005, the band played mainly concerts. On 1 April 2008, they released their first studio album, produced by Facedown Records, named ecclesia ( the called-out ones ). The term comes from the Greek and is a self-designation of the first Christians, with which you want to express their faith. On 8 May 2008 appeared from said album of the most successful titles - agape - as a video. The second album Portraits was published on 9 June 2009 under the same label, and held for a week at number 15 on the Billboard charts for Christian albums. In the songs of the album various Biblical personalities are portrayed. For the people it is the Old Testament prophet Ezekiel, Joel, Elijah and Isaiah, as well as the Pharisee Nicodemus, the priest Zacharias, Saul (later Paul) of Tarsus and Immanuel (Jesus). The last song of the album - Talmidim (designation for followers of a rabbi, here are probably the disciples of Jesus, that all Christians meant ) - deals with the Bible verse Ez 36.26-28 Lut from the book of the prophets already portrayed.

For Today plays many concerts together with other artists. So they are on their current U.S. tour with Emmure, Stick to Your Guns, Evergreen Terrace and Oceano on stage. In the past they had many more joint appearances with bands like Saving Grace, The Chariot, My Children My Bride Gigs at the Cornerstone Festival, Face Down Hard or the German Metal Fest, which took place in Friedewald in October are just as much so.

In May 2012, she published, after the change to the label Razor & Tie, their fourth album "Immortal".

On 15 June 2012, the band via the portal youtube.de announced that David Morrison in September 2012 they leave for a mission trip in Ecuador and replaced by David Puckett.

In a discussion of a state church, in the only preacher should be allowed to reject homo -, bi- and not transsexual, tweeted guitarist Mike Reynolds on 10 January 2013 that homosexuality was a sin and called on other Christians, from religions to distance, sin advocate. Singer Mattie Montgomery apologized a day later in a video post on his fans and all those who are affected by these statements, and announced that Reynolds will no longer be a member of the band.
