Fortunatus Nwachukwu

Fortunatus Nwachukwu A. ( born May 10, 1960 in Ntigha, Abia, Nigeria ) is a diplomat of the Holy See.

Life

Fortunatus Nwachukwu studied philosophy and theology at Bigard Memorial Seminary, which later became St. Joseph's Major Seminary Ikot Ekpene in. He received on 17 June 1984, the ordination to the priesthood for the Diocese of Aba Nigeria and subsequently worked as a priest in Ibeku - Umuahia and as a student chaplain at the College of Agriculture Umudike and Umudike Campus of Alvan Ikoku College of Education -. He has also acted in training and was dean of the Immaculate Conception Seminary and Vizekrektor in Umuahia.

From 1986 studied Fortunatus Nwachukwu biblical studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas and the Pontifical Urban University as well as at the Philosophical- Theological College Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt am Main and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He also studied at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. He earned a Licentiate in Sacred Scriptures (LSS ) and in textual criticism of the Old Testament. In systematic theology he received his doctorate with a focus on the African theology Doctor of Theology and a thesis on the relations of the Holy See and the State of Israel to the doctor of canon law.

In 1994 he entered the diplomatic service of the Curia. He was secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature in Ghana, Togo and Benin in Accra and in the Nunciature in Paraguay, Algeria and Tunisia. He was also a consultant to the mission of the Permanent Observer of the Holy See at the United Nations and other international organization. He then worked in the Vatican Secretariat of State. Pope John Paul II conferred him on July 8, 1995 the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) on 4 August 2004 and the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 9 April 2007 in succession by Tommaso Caputo to the Chief of Protocol of the Holy See in the State Secretariat.

Nwachukwu has published several books and scientific papers. In addition to the English language he mastered French, German, Spanish, Italian, Arabic and modern Hebrew, as well as his study of the Bible, the old languages ​​- Hebrew, ancient Greek, and Latin.

On November 12, 2012, he was named Benedict XVI. Titular Archbishop of Aqua Viva and Apostolic Nuncio in Nicaragua. He received his episcopal consecration Benedict XVI.
